
Operations Manager, Western Australia
Gained from 23 years of service in the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) reaching the Rank of Flight Sergeant, Charlie has an extensive knowledge of aircraft weapons and aircraft weapon systems, engineering practices and explosive ordnance disposal. Significant posts held included the Senior Inspector of Explosives (SIX) in charge of the RNZAF Explosive Inspection unit. This unit was responsible for all EOD training, explosive quality control and audits, explosive breakdown and defect investigation, explosive proof testing and trials, accident investigation of armament and explosive ordnance related incidents, UXO recovery, crashed aircraft UXO render safe procedures, modification and repair of explosive ordnance and licensing of explosive ordnance storage facilities and transportation. As an EOD operator, he gained extensive experience in all aspects of sub-surface UXO search operations.
As a warranted civilian Department of Labour Explosive Inspector (NZ), further duties included providing EOD support to civilian authorities for the disposal of obsolete Tri-Service Military Explosive Ordnance (EO) surrendered by members of the public and disposal of all commercial time expired and defective explosives from civilian manufacturers. This would occasionally necessitate explosive chemical testing and the requisite chemical neutralisation of unstable explosives.
Completion of a tri-service Improvised Explosive Device Disposal (IEDD) Team leaders course, provided Charlie with extensive knowledge of disposal techniques for homemade devices, vehicle bombs and other improvised devices. Charlie is also a qualified Laser Safety Officer, having completed a Defence Laser Safety Course conducted by the University of New South Wales. He has also completed his New Zealand Certificate of Engineering (NZCE) in Electro-technology and Computing.
Employment with Trimble WA Ltd provided him with extensive experience in all aspects of Global Positioning Systems.
As Manager Milsearch operations for Western Australia since October 2005, Charlie has responsibility for marketing, business development and search operations within that State and also assists on other Milsearch projects within Australia as required.
